Primrose

I forgot to post this! A friend of mine wanted to get a hamster, so she gave me her rat. She named her Snoopy, though I renamed her Primrose.

She is standard like Precious was. She looks like a husky ☺️ She is a very active little ratty. Her original owners moved to Alberta, so they had to leave their rats behind. Primrose had a sister, though she died. She immediately was well liked by the ratty clan. She is such a cutie 😊 

RIP Precious and Patchy-Patch

On May, 23rd, 2014 Precious died. We don't know what she died of. When we took her to the vet, they gave her an antibacterial shot, but a few days later she died.

Yesterday Patchy-Patch kept rolling and rolling, so we took her to the vet. Apparently she had an ear infection that was affecting her balance, so essentially her world was spinning. There was only a 30%  survival chance, so my father made the decision to put her down. It was a very sad choice and they will be much missed.
I miss you ratties! <3 <3 <3

Critter Nation!

Today after much hard work; I bought a Critter Nation it is so huge! My Precious, Lulu, Patchy-Patch and Princess will be so pampered! Will post picture soon :)

Princess!

Just wanted to say that we go a new rat named Princess. She is also a white dumbo rat with red eyes and a brown mark and looks very similar to Lily, but she's much smaller and always walks with her tail curled into her back. Any ideas why?

Lily

I have some very sad news to share with my readers...After struggling with cancer for several months, we finally had to put Lily to sleep. She was such a wonderful rat and although she died at age 1 y 1m, I do believe she was a well loved and happy rat.

Tumour

2 days ago, I noticed a bump on Lily. I did some research and decided it was either a tumour or cyst. We made an appointment with the vet, and brought her in yesterday. My worst suspicions were confirmed. Lily had a tumour under her right hind leg. Today she was brought in for a Lumpectomy. When we picked her up she was a bit drowsy from the anaesthetic an pink from the cream they put on her, though the surgery went well, and that's all that matters. :) We might need to make her a Buster Collar out of a yoghurt container if she scratches. Lily is due for another vet appointment in 2 weeks (14 days). I hope her all the best!

I never really thought of how much Lily, Precious and Patchy-Patch have grown, but now, in comparison to Lulu, they’re HUGE! They’re getting along nicely now, though Lily still has some getting used to the new arrival.

Lulu

We got a new baby rat! Her name is Lulu. Will post pics later! In the meantime she is a black hooded dumbo like Patchy-Patch, though perhaps I should switch their names, since Patchy-Patch has a hook on her back and Lulu has a cloud-patch shape. She’s so cute!

Woah, So hot out here! I've moved my rats downstairs as it's much cooler down there.

Patchy-Patch

Today we added another ratty to our clan creating a threesome, Lily, Precious and Patchy-Patch.  Will Post Picture of her tomorrow.

Lily is doing the best since I’ve had her. She has made great progress and I held her for an hour without her pooing on me, (Pooing means she’s scared) I still get a couple of qeaks now and again, but she is making progress.

Lily Is getting more settled in now, though she is still scared out of her wits whenever I pick her up.

My New Rats

Yes, I know it has really bad quality, but that's the best I can do. I had been holding Precious all day so she was very comfortable in my hand at that moment, where as I had to take Lily out of here cage and she was squirming in my hand.

My Pet Rats

The day before last I got two rats from the pet store, their names are Lily and Precious. Since they are pet store rats I have no idea what colour they are but Precious is a creamy-beige, and I have no idea what to call Lily. I will post some pictures later.

I have finally reached my goal with money to spare. It comes to a grand total of 164.63. I will be getting my rats during the summer/early September. I shall post when I have more news.

Almost there,$10 to go!

That means only one more day of working then I can order the cage, and buy the supplies (including the rats) from the pet store. Even though it is best to buy rats directly from a breeder to prevent diseases and to promote happy and healthy rats that live longer, there are no rat breeders in my area and only one small pet store that sells rats. I saw it once and they have dumbo rats. They are cute. But they are younger, and they are dumbos which are cute when they are kittens but they do grow up to be a bit ugly...But cute all the same :)

New goal

I have lowered my goal since a found an appropriate cage for half the price.

So far, getting paid tonight so I’ll raise the bar when I do.

A 1/3 done 2/3 to go until I have enough money to get my rats!
I'm so excited! I can't wait to feel the rats fur! I've already chosen names! Lily and Abby, what do you think?
